Destiny and Legacy



2 Samuel 7:16 – And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.

Father God has a dream in His heart for you.


How do we discover God’s plans and purposes for our lives? How do we help others live out their dream and destiny as well?




Rick Warren – It’s not about you. The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness.


Rick Warren – You were born by His purpose and for His purpose.


Colossians 1:16 – All things were created through Him and for Him.


Ephesians 1:11(Message) – It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for.


Psalm 115:1 – Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but to Your Name, give glory.


John 12:28 – Father, glorify Your name.


2 Samuel 7:2 – See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells inside tent curtains.


2 Chronicles 6:8 – But the Lord said to my father David, “Whereas it was in your heart to build a temple for My Name, you did well in that it was in your heart.”


Wayne Cordeiro – I realized that I existed for His purposes, not my own.

Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.


Isaiah 30:21 – Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way walk in it.”


John 10:27 – My sheep hear My Voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.


2 Samuel 7:11 – Also the Lord tells you that He will make you a house. (NLT – a dynasty of kings)


2 Samuel 7:12 – I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.


2 Samuel 7:16 – Your throne shall be established forever.


Revelation 5:5 – The Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David.


Revelation 22:16 – The Risen Lord declares, “I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.


Luke 1:32 – He will be great and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.


Luke 1:33 –  …….. and of His kingdom there will be no end.


George Washington Carver – “He could have added fortune to fame, but caring for neither, he found happiness and honor in helping the world.”




The Lord not only had a great destiny for David’s life, He had a great legacy beyond David’s life.


God’s purposes for our lives extends beyond our lives.


Father God thinks generationally.


1 Chronicles 28:20 – And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God- my God -will be with you.”


Challenge for Joy – Build a relationship with someone from another generation.


The Holy Spirit is not only calling us to fulfilled destiny. He is calling us to generational legacy.


Dr. Flint – “Your obvious zeal for Christ inspires us all. I look with great anticipation for how God will use you for His purposes. The kingdom of God awaits you.”
