Followers of the Way: See People Saved! – Pastor Luke Faw

Do you see people saved through your life?  Join us as we explore the early church’s salvation impact on the people around them!

Acts 2:47 (NLT) – “…all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.”

Matthew 28:19a (NLT) – “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations…”

1.      INTERCEDE

Acts 4:11-13 (NIV) – “then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. Jesus is

‘the stone you builders rejected,
    which has become the cornerstone.’

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

2.      INVEST

Matthew 5:16 (NIV) – “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

John 13:34-35 (NLT) – “So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

In the NIV – “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Acts 2:44-47 (NLT) – “And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity — all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.”

3.      INVITE

If you have been saved, you can share that Jesus saves!

John 4:28-30 (NLT) – The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, “Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the Messiah?” So the people came streaming from the village to see him.

John 4:39-42 (NLT) – Many Samaritans from the village believed in Jesus because the woman had said, “He told me everything I ever did!” When they came out to see him, they begged him to stay in their village. So he stayed for two days, long enough for many more to hear his message and believe. Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not just because of what you told us, but because we have heard him ourselves. Now we know that he is indeed the Savior of the world.”

Acts 4:18-20 (NIV) — Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges! As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

Acts 3:19-20 (NLT) – “Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah.”

4.      ENJOY

Acts 13:50-52 (NLT) – “Some of the Jews convinced the most respected women and leading men of the town that their precious way of life was about to be destroyed. Alarmed, they turned on Paul and Barnabas and forced them to leave.  Paul and Barnabas shrugged their shoulders and went on to the next town, Iconium, brimming with joy and the Holy Spirit, two happy disciples.”

Acts 4:29-31 (NIV) – “Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

Questions for Discussion/Reflection:

1.      Do you have God’s heart for the lost?  Why or why not?

2.      Do you regularly intercede for the lost?

3.      Who are 1-2 people you feel God may be impressing on your heart to pray for?

4.      What could it look like for you to invest “relationally” in one of those people?

5.      What might it look like for you to invite them to come to the Crusade with you or to share the gospel with them?

6.      How do you think you would feel after doing the above steps?
