CHANGED FOREVER AT JESUS’ FEET – Pastor McLean Faw
Luke 17:11-13 (NKJV) -- Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
Luke 17:14-16 (NKJV) -- So, when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.
Luke 11:17-19 (NKJV) -- So, Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner? And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”
Psalm 103:8 (NKJV) – The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
Psalm 103:11 (NKJV) – For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him.
Psalm 103:17 (NKJV) – But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him.
Micah 7:18 (NKJV) – Who is a God like You, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy.
Mercy in the OT – Hesed – Compassion, steadfast love, unfailing love, lovingkindness, mercy.
Mercy in the NT – have compassion, show mercy.
Matthew 15:22b (NKJV) – A mother cries out for her daughter, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon possessed.
Matthew 17:15 (NKJV) – A father cries out or his son, “Lord have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely.”
Mark 10:47 (NKJV) – Blind Bartimaeus cries out to Jesus, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.”
Luke 17:13 (NKJV) – Ten Lepers cry out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
Leviticus 13:46 (NKJV) – He is unclean, and he shall dwell alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp.”
Luke 17:14 (NKJV) – So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go show yourselves to the priests,” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
1. CRY OUT FOR MERCY
Luke 17:14a (NKJV) – So when He saw them, He said to them …
Exodus 3:7-8a (NKJV) -- And the LORD said, “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians….
Luke 17:14b (NKJV) – “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
Psalm 107:13-14 (NKJV) -- Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke their chains in pieces.
Mark 10:47 (NKJV) – And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
2. GIVE GOD THE GLORY
Luke 17:15-16 (NKJV) -- And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.
Luke 17:16a (AMPC) – And he fell prostrate at Jesus feet, thanking Him(over and over).
Psalm 107:1 (NKJV) – Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever!
2 Chronicles 20:21b (NKJV) – … as they went out before the army and were saying: “Praise the LORD, for His mercy endures forever.”
Luke 17:15-16 (MSG) – One of them, when he realized he was healed, turned around and came back, shouting his gratitude, glorifying God. He kneeled at Jesus’ feet, so grateful. He couldn’t thank Him enough – and he was a Samaritan.
3. STEP INTO THE STREAM OF SALVATION
Luke 17:17-19 (MSG) – Jesus said, “Were not ten healed? Where are the nine? Can none be found to come back and give glory to God except this outsider?” Then He said to him, “Get up. On your way. Your faith has healed and saved you.”
Luke 17:19 (NKJV) – And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”
Sozo – save, deliver, rescue, heal, make whole.
Message – Your faith has healed and saved you.
Ephesians 2:1 (NKJV) – And you He made alive who were dead in trespasses and sins.
Ephesians 2:4-5 (NKJV) – But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).
