3.27.2024 | HOW DO YOU WALK IN THE SPIRIT

Galatians 5:25 NLT

Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

Galatians 5:25 NKJV

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 NKJV

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

How do you walk in the Spirit?

Ephesians 5:15 NLT

So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.

Galatians 5:25 NIV

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

1. Distractions (things that pull you away)

2. Obstructions (things that get in your way)

3. Assaults (the enemy’s attacks against you)

If our soul dominates, can we hear God?  Why or why not?

1. Our soul was not designed to hear God’s voice.

2. Steward your heart before the Lord!

Psalm 139:23-24 NIV

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.

A. Walk in the spirit

B. Lead your heart

C. Don’t let your emotions rule

Proverbs 23:19b NASB

Direct your heart in the way.

Proverbs 23:19 NKJV

Hear, my son, and be wise; And guide your heart in the way.

Proverbs 4:23 NIV

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Proverbs 23:26 NLT

O my son, give me your heart. May your eyes take delight in following my ways.

Walking in the Spirit, overcome!

1. Focus my eyes on you: Walk in thanksgiving and praise

Hebrew 12:1-2b NLT

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.

2. Walk in dependence and obedience to Gods Word

Hebrews 4:12 NLT

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

3. Listen to his voice

Isaiah 30:18 NKJV

And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will He be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.
