Growing Giants Pt. 9

1 Thessalonians 5:19(NIV) – Do not put out the Spirit’s fire.

The Holy Spirit is seeking to raise up a mighty army of Spirit-Filled Worshippers who are on fire for Jesus Christ!

Romans 12:11(AMP) – Be aglow and burning with the Spirit

2 Timothy 1:6(NLT) – Fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…….

On Fire for God – To be a committed follower of Jesus Christ, filled with a passionate love for Him, for His Word, for His people, and for the lost.

Apollos – fervent in spirit – fiery hot, full of burning zeal, the opposite of cold, dignified, and unemotional, it signifies a high spiritual temperature inflamed by the Holy Spirit – Acts 18:25

How do we live a life that is on fire for God?

Acts 2:3Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

Luke 3:16 – He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

The fire of God is the fire of the Holy Spirit, refining us and filling us with passion for Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:19 – Do not quench the Holy Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:19(NLT) – Do not put out the Spirit’s fire.

Quench – put out a fire, snuff out, extinguish a fire by dousing it with water.

We don’t want to do anything as a congregation, as a family, or as an individual to quench, dampen, or put out the fire of the Holy Spirit.

The enemy of our soul will do anything he can to pour water on the fire of the Holy Spirit.

  1. Offence

Matthew 5:23-24 –  Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

  1. Fear of Man

Proverbs 29:25The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.

  1. Pride

James 4:6God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble

1 Thessalonians 5:20Do not despise prophecies

Prophecy – a speaking forth of the heart of God

Fee – a spontaneous, Spirit- inspired message

Acts 2:17And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophecy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.

Every believer can hear the voice of God. Every believer can flow in the gifts of God.

1 Thessalonians 5:21-22Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil

Test – verify, evaluate, examine

We hold up every prophetic word we receive to the light of the Written Word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

The Fire of God is fed by the Word of God

1 Thessalonians 5:23Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Sanctify – set apart for God, make holy, consecrate, make pure and whole.

1 Thessalonians 5:24He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.

Jesus will change us as we surrender and say yes to Him.
