Testimony of forgiveness and deliverance

My mother was seriously hurt and abused by her mother (my grandmother who is now deceased) all her life since birth. She was extremely narcissistic and totally demonized. She went out of her way to make my mother's life a living hell all the time as much as she could. I personally witnessed some of the abuse growing up as a child, but my mother was always recounting stories of what her mother had put her through. I have been telling my mother that she needed to find a way to somehow forgive her mother for all she had done because she was becoming more and more angry, bitter and resentful about it.
My mother has been having nightmares every night the last year or so, reliving the torment she endured. Finally, while I was taking her grocery shopping yesterday, she asked me to pray with her to fully and officially forgive her mother for all she had done. After many years of me pleading with her to do so, this was a very welcome request to hear from her. Once we arrived back at her place, I prayed with her. My mother named many specific events of abuse from her mother. As she named each one, she made a prophetic act of handing each one to Jesus, and He took them all away! I then prayed against all demonic oppression which had exploited the situation, and my mother received major deliverance.
After the prayer, she said she felt lighter. She then called me this morning to tell me it was the first night in a very long time where she didn't have any nightmares about the abuse from her mother. She felt like something finally shifted for the first time in her life. She knows Jesus did something powerful, but she had to actually be willing to release true forgiveness first. There are still other people in her life which she needs to also forgive, but her mother was by far the worst of the bunch and that major stronghold in her life has now been broken. Thank you, Jesus!
