FILLED! ~ Pastor McLean Faw
Acts 1:5 (NKJV) – For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.
Acts 1:8 (NKJV) – But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Acts 2:1-2 (NKJV) – When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
Acts 2:3-4 (NKJV) – Then there appeared to them divided tongues as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
What God did on the day of Pentecost, He is doing today.
The Holy Spirit is on the move, and He is inviting us to join Him, move with Him, and step out in Him.
1. BE SET FREE BY THE WIND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Acts 2:2 (NKJV) – And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind.
The wind of the Holy Spirit can break chains that hold us captive and shake prison doors.
John 3:8 (NLT) – The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.
Ruach – Wind, breath, Spirit
Ezekiel 37:4-5 (NKJV) – Again, He said to me, “Prophecy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.’”
Ezekiel 37:9-10 (NKJV) – Also, He said to me, “Prophecy to the breath, prophecy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord God: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” So, I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.
2. BE TRANSFORMED BY THE FIRE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Acts 2:3 (NLT) – Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them.
Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke – There was a flame for every name.
Luke 3:16c (NLT) – He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
The Fire of the Holy Spirit is the holiness of God, the refining, purifying power of the Holy Spirit.
Hebrews 12:29 (NKJV) – For our God is a consuming fire.
The fire of the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, changes us, and fills us with a passion for Jesus Christ and the Gospel.
The calling of every believer is to be a burning bush for Jesus Christ
Exodus 3:2 (NKJV) – And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of the bush. So, he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed.
Romans 12:11b (AMPC) – Be aglow and burning with the Spirit.
Luke 24:32 (NKJV) – And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scripture to us?”
3. BE FILLED WITH THE PRESENCE AND POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Acts 2:4 (NKJV) – And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Filled – filled to the full, fishing boat filled with fish, a sponge filled with vinegar
Jesus fills us to overflowing!
John 7:38 (NKJV) – He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.
1 Corinthians 14:14 (NKJV) – For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.
