1.11.2026 | VISION Part 2 - Bridging Generations - Pastor Luke Faw
Bridging Generations:
1. Contend for Peace
Matthew 5:9 (NIV) - Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Brokenness is
a missing link
Peace is
an unbroken chain
Peacemaking is
filling the gap
Psalm 62:5 (NLT) - Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.
Psalm 62:5a (NIV) - Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
2. Position in Peace
Matthew 6:12 (NLT) - and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
Psalm 139:23-24 (NIV) - Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 147:3 (NIV) - He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
I also love Brian Simmons translation of this passage: He heals the wounds of every shattered heart.
3. Receive Courage from the Lion
Hosea 11:10-11 (NIV) - They will follow the Lord; he will roar like a lion. When he roars, his children will come trembling from the west. They will come from Egypt, trembling like sparrows, from Assyria, fluttering like doves. I will settle them in their homes,” declares the Lord.
Revelation 5:5 (NLT) – But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne,[b] has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
1 Peter 5:8 (NIV) - Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
Isaiah 31:4 (NKJV) - For thus the Lord has spoken to me:
“As a lion roars, and a young lion over his prey (When a multitude of shepherds is summoned against him, He will not be afraid of their voice nor be disturbed by their noise), so the Lord of hosts will come down to fight for Mount Zion and for its hill.
Questions for discussion/reflection:
1. What might it look like for you to contend for peace between generations in this new season at Joy? How can you insert yourself into the space of the broken/missing link?
2. What are some areas you might be carrying intergenerational offense? Are you willing to pursue forgiveness and the wholeness of Jesus in these areas?
3. If there was zero fear around this area in your life, what do you think you might try to do?
