WHY THE GOSPEL?
Isaiah 53:4 (NKJV) – Surely, He has borne our griefs (sicknesses) and caried our sorrows (pains); yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God and afflicted.
Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV) – But He was wounded (pierced through) for our transgressions, He was bruised (crushed) for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:6 (NKJV) – All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, everyone, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
GET RIGHT WITH GOD!
There is a great spiritual hunger across America and an openness to the Gospel.
1. BELIEVE THAT GOD LOVES YOU AND HAS A PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE
John 3:16 (ESV) - For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
Jeremiah 29:11(NLT) – “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
To know God’s plan, we must first know Him.
There is a hole in the human heart that only the Lord Himself can fill.
Mark 8:36 (NKJV) – For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?
Every human being is born with a spiritual heart disease!
Genesis 2:16-17 (NKJV) – And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Romans 5:12 (NLT) – When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.
2. BELIEVE THAT SIN IS REAL
Isaiah 53:6a (NKJV) – All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned, everyone, to his own way.
Transgressions – rebellion against God, to rebel, to revolt, to trespass
Iniquities – the evil bent in human beings, crooked, perversion
Romans 3:23 (NKJV) - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 6:23a (NKJV) – For the wages of sin is death...
Without Christ, we are separated from God, spiritually dead, and spiritually blind.
2 Corinthians 4:4 (NKJV) – whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
3. BELIEVE THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS CHRIST
Isaiah 9:2 (NKJV) – The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.
John 8:12 (NKJV) – Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.”
Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV) – But He was wounded (pierced through) for our transgressions, He was bruised (crushed) for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:6 (NKJV) – All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned, everyone, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NKJV) - For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.
4. RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST AS SAVIOR AND LORD
Romans 3:22 (NLT) – We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
a. Repent – Turn away from sin, turn to Him.
Acts 2:38 (NLT) – Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
b. Believe on Jesus Christ.
Acts 16:31 (NKJV) – So, they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
c. Receive Jesus Christ into your life as Savior and Lord.
John 1:12 (ESV) – But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.
d. Declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord.”
Romans 10:9 (NIV) – If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
